Mango Margarita
The Mango Margarita, as you might guess, is a modern variation of the original Margarita, adding mango to the mix. This version became especially popular in the 1990s and 2000s as the trend for tropical, fruit-infused cocktails exploded. The sweet, tropical flavor of mango pairs beautifully with the tangy lime and the richness of tequila, making the Mango Margarita a favorite in many bars, especially in beach resorts or places with warm climates.
Ingredients:
2 cups frozen mango chunks (fresh mango works too, but frozen gives a better texture)
1/2 cup tequila (blanco or reposado)
1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed for best flavor)
1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
1 tablespoons simple syrup or agave nectar (optional, depending on your sweetness preference)
Lime wedges (for garnish)
Salt or sugar (for the rim, optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Glass:
If you want a salted or sugared rim, rub a lime wedge around the edge of your glass, then dip it into a plate of salt or sugar. Set the glass aside.
Blend the Margarita:
In a blender, combine the frozen mango chunks, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup (if using), and ice. Blend until smooth and slushy. Add a little more ice or lime juice if the consistency is too thick, or blend longer if it's too runny.
Taste and Adjust:
Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness or tartness as needed. If you want it sweeter, add a little more simple syrup or agave. If you like it more tart, add a little more lime juice.
Serve:
Pour the frozen Mango Margarita into your prepared glass, garnish with a lime wedge, and enjoy!
